The state lottery directors that sell the Powerball game have issued a new estimated jackpot after finding that the current estimate of $240 million is likely to be surpassed. Texas may join both big lotteries. In a proposal that one out-of-state official said could kill Lotto Texas and spark major changes in the lottery industry, Texas Lottery Commission Chairman Tom Clowe on Monday suggested signing the state up with both Powerball and Mega Millions, the two megajackpot, multistate games.
