 – Other Half of $118 million Big Game Jackpot Claimed.  The anonymous members of a partnership from Cherry Hill, New Jersey came forward to claim half of the $118 million jackpot from the Big Game drawing held on August 31, 2001.
Michigan man wins $150,000 Big Game prize.  Terry Russell of Coloma, Michigan was shocked and in total disbelief upon learning he had matched the first five numbers in the September 18 Big Game drawing to win a $150,000 prize.
Powerball winner to retire.  Kathleen Kearney, 56, of Hockessin, Deleware, has submitted paperwork seeking to retire from her first-grade teaching job at McVey Elementary School in the Christina School District, said Lisa McVey, district spokeswoman.
19-year-old claims $11.5 million.  Chris Plooster, who works as a janitor to pay for his studies at ITT Tech, won last weekend’s $11.5 million Colorado Lotto drawing.
Florida Lotto winner claims her prize.  Tiffany L. Johnson, 27, reported to lottery headquarters in Tallahassee first thing Monday to claim $11.6 million, her share of Saturday's $22 million jackpot after Johnson opted to take the lump-sum payment.
S.C. Lottery commission finalizes ad contract.  The S.C. Lottery Commission finalized its advertising contract with Erwin-Penland on Tuesday, after the agency addressed concerns that the firm's proposal did not include enough S.C. minority-owned business participation.

36 Pathmark Supermarket Co-Workers Claim Big Game Jackpot.  The group of 36 co-workers from the Pathmark Supermarket in Brick Township, New Jersey, have come forward to officially claim half of the $118 million Big Game jackpot for the drawing held on August 31, 2001.
Pennsylvania Lottery comes up triples.  The total payout for The Penn. Daily Number 2-2-2 drawn Sunday, September 23, 2001, of $11,511,500 represents approximately 10.3 times or $10.4 million above the amount that players wagered.  There were 46,361 players who chose the winning numbers.  Triple 2s have hit a total of 15 times since The Daily Number drawing began in March 1977.  The last time 2-2-2 was drawn was December 30, 2000, and the last time any triples hit (1-1-1) was July 13, 2001.

 – Sharp divisions on N.C. lottery.  The N.C. House would narrowly vote against holding a public referendum on a lottery, rejecting state-sponsored gambling but also leaving a gusher of money untapped during an economic standstill.
Ex-FBI agents hired for lottery security.  Two retired FBI agents will take on what is possibly the S.C. lottery's most important task: protect the integrity of the games.

 – AP, 3 Papers Sue S.C. Lottery Commission.  The Associated Press and three newspapers sued the South Carolina state Lottery Commission on Wednesday, saying it broke the law by receiving pitches behind closed doors for the largest advertising contract ever awarded by the state.
Virginia Man Wins $150,000 Big Game Prize.  Arnold Kamm of Williamsburg, Virginia came to the Lottery's Headquarters office in Richmond to claim his $150,000 prize from the September 11, 2001 drawing of The Big Game.

 – Broken Leg Helps Make Man a Millionaire.  An Australian man nursing a broken leg became a millionaire when he picked lottery-winning numbers from his hospital identification bracelet.
Lotto winner's ex-love: Promise, heart broken.  A Florida woman who won $23 million last year in the Florida lottery is being sued by her ex-boyfriend for half the winnings, on the basis that the two had always agreed to share the winnings, and more important, it was his money that was used to purchase the winning ticket.
 – Erwin-Penland wins lottery contract.  Erwin-Penland of Greenville is the apparent winner of the S.C. Lottery's $7.5 million annual advertising contract, but there are questions about contributions by Erwin-Penland and Erwin to last fall's lottery campaign.

Desperate farmer sold winning lottery ticket.  A Thai farmer desperate for cash sold his lottery tickets only to discover his numbers came up.
Top bidder announced for lottery advertising contract.  Erwin-Penland of Greenville has emerged as the leading bidder for the $7.5 million S.C. Lottery advertising contract.
N.C. lottery-vote hearing set for next week.  House Speaker Jim Black said last night that a committee hearing on a state lottery referendum won't be held until next week at the earliest.
