Today, Nita Colla of San Francisco claimed the largest jackpot ever awarded to an individual by the California lottery -- $88 million. Mrs. Colla elected to take the winnings in one lump sum, which amounts to a staggering $42,898,388 before taxes.
Publishers Clearing House has reached a comprehensive agreement with 23 state Attorneys Gereral, resolving disputes over the company's misleading promotions. Keeping in mind that the linked story is a press release published by PCH, you'll have to take their positive spin with a grain of salt.

Here's a story about a lucky Michigan man who won a $150,000 prize in the August 11 Big Game drawing. Included in the story is the location where the winning ticket was purchased. As a side note, it seems that all of these winners I read about find out that they're winners by going back to the store, or by reading a newspaper, etc. I'm still waiting for the first story that quotes the winner saying that he found the winning numbers on the internet at BigGamelottery.com!
