Dreamers, schemers line up for Powerball jackpot.  The two buddies with whom Frank Martin used to play the lottery may have given up hope of ever hitting it big, but the 65-year-old Upper Darby resident says he’s not about to throw in the towel anytime soon -- especially with tonight’s Powerball drawing at $210 million.
 – Lottery frenzy makes Rosenberg store a winner.  A corner convenience store in Rosenberg, Texas that reigns as the lottery-selling champion in the Houston area was buzzing Tuesday, selling tickets to eager customers hoping to claim the biggest prize in the Mega Millions drawing since Texas joined the multistate lottery.

Mega-visions of $ugarplums.  Holding tight to hopes of whirlwind vacations and early retirement, New Yorkers waited as long as it took yesterday for Mega Millions lottery tickets.
Big lottery jackpot spurs border rush.  Many Tar Heels flocked across the Virginia line and plunked down cash for a chance at the $155 million jackpot in tonight’s multistate Mega Millions game.  The drawing will be at 11 p.m.
First Tennessee Games Revealed.  Yesterday lottery President and Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Paul unveiled Tennessee Millionaire along with three other scratch-off ticket games that will go on sale in February, officially launching the drive for funding college scholarships through lottery sales.

 – $210 Million Powerball Jackpot up for Grabs on New Year's Eve.  No one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday's Powerball drawing, pushing the jackpot to an estimated $210 million, with a cash option of $113.9 million.  That would rank as the 5th largest Powerball jackpot ever, and would rank as the 7th largest lottery jackpot all-time.
 – $150M pot so sweet!.  With the Mega Millions jackpot growing to $150 million, New Yorkers had at least one lofty New Year's resolution: Get rich - quick.
State lottery kickoff nears.  About six weeks from now, Tennesseans will be able to participate in their own state lottery, and through it finance higher education for 65,000 students.
Millionaire antsy.  He's got a million reasons to retire, but the idea of sitting back and relaxing in his plush new west-side home is driving lottery winner Donald Majore to distraction.

Lottery's $125M Pot Stirs City.  Visions of sugarplums - and sweet greenbacks - were dancing through the heads of New York lottery players on Christmas as they rushed to buy tickets for tonight's $125 million Mega Millions jackpot.

Mega Millions Jackpot Surges to $125 Million.  No Mega Millions tickets matched all six numbers in last night's drawing, increasing the estimated jackpot for the Friday, December 26, 2003 drawing is $125 million, with a cash option of $73 million.
 – Des Moines Cop Could Be Lottery Winner.  Several officers at the Des Moines Police Department said that patrol officer Daniel Good is the person who bought a Hot Lotto ticket worth $1.65 million.
Lottery, legislators tug at unclaimed jackpots.  The largest jackpot left on the table in Florida history is inspiring a flood of legislation requiring that such dollars go directly to education not back into future prizes or promotions as current law allows.  The Florida Lottery warns such a move could backfire, reducing payouts and, in turn, the volume of ticket sales.

 – Lottery 'winner' sues for $63M.  A Brooklyn man has filed suit against New York Lottery, claiming he won last year's Mega Millions drawing on Christmas Eve.
Spain Holds $2.2B Christmas Lottery.  The world's richest lottery spread $2.2 billion in Christmas cheer Monday throughout Spain, including to a village whose name means luck.
Colorado appoints new lottery chief.  An official with the Colorado Department of Public Safety's criminal justice division has been tapped to lead the Colorado Lottery, an agency under investigation and, auditors say, fraught with mismanagement.

Powerball Jackpot Rolls To $137 Million.  No tickets correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday's Powerball drawing, pushing the jackpot to an estimated $137 million, with a cash option of $74.4 million.  That's currently the largest lottery jackpot in the world.
Spend a lott this Christmas.  'Tis the season to splash out and be jolly...and three lucky ladies won't be worrying about the bills when they start rolling in after Christmas.
Orgeon lottery gears up to sell new contract.  Oregon State Lottery officials will launch two weeks of public forums in March to talk to retailers about compensation rates and other issues as the agency prepares a new six-year contract.
Ex-lawmaker, lottery leader dies.  Tributes poured in Friday for E.D. “Debbs” Potts, a former lawmaker, president of the Oregon Senate, and until this month, the only chairman of the Oregon Lottery Commission.
Struggling family wins $77,777 jackpot.  After experiencing a very harsh year in which her husband lost his job and they lost their home because they could not make the mortgage payments, Patricia Fields said she feels winning the lottery is a blessing from God.

Pa. Lottery To Scrap Super 6 Lotto.  The Pennsylvania Lottery has decided to scrap its 5-year-old Super Six Lotto game because sales have been hurt by the introduction of the multistate Powerball game.
Mega Millions boosts Texas lottery sales.  Lottery ticket sales have increased an average of 30 percent since Texas joined the multistate lottery Mega Millions two weeks ago, state officials said Thursday.
Tennessee game has border stops ready to cash in.  Tennessee is setting up its first lottery outlets in stores along its borders with Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas and Mississippi to reap proceeds from its neighbors.

Oregon man wins lottery millions.  A 37-year-old Medford construction worker claimed his prize from a $21.7 million Megabucks jackpot Monday — and promptly went into seclusion.
Lottery Scam Reaches N.D. Sen. Conrad.  North Dakota Senator Kent Conrad was one of the latest targets of a mail scam that has run for three years and hit about 2,000 people in the United States, 800 of whom had been fooled into sending money to con artists.

 – Lottery authorizations puzzle officer.  A Metro Vice sergeant wants to know how two brothers convicted of gambling charges could be lucky enough to be among the first independent retailers authorized by Tennessee to sell lottery tickets.
Trying to Sell California's Lottery.  Several California agencies are preparing for the third time in 18 months to compete for the account of the California Lottery Commission.

 – Phone trouble halts MD lottery sales for 6 hours.  On Monday, Maryland lottery players were having a hard time getting clerks to take their money because 329 lottery machines were down in Washington County for about six hours.
State to end televised drawings of lottery.  Wisconsin Lottery officials said Monday they will no longer broadcast nightly drawings live on television and will stop producing a weekly game show that had aired for more than a decade.
Lottery pays off for poor kids.  Children in one of Denver's oldest and poorest neighborhoods are getting a new playground, thanks in part to Great Outdoors Colorado.
Bank gets lottery business.  Lottery officials Monday officially named First Tennessee to handle millions in banking services for the upstart game.

French lottery to pay up.  Games company Francaise des Jeux said it would compensate a handful of people who mistakenly thought they had won the jackpot because of printing errors on a batch of black jack scratch cards.
Lottery officials swamped with resumes.  Deluged with more than 9,000 unsolicited resumes for only 300 jobs, Tennessee lottery officials have enlisted help in matching the right people with the right jobs.

S.C. Lottery Director Opposes Sales Tax Plan.  Gov. Mark Sanford’s plan to charge sales tax on lottery tickets could cost South Carolina millions in lost education dollars, members of the S.C. lottery commission were told Tuesday.

$4 million winner lays low after jackpot.  Edward Davis of Ashland, Massachusetts has been lying low since hitting a $4 million Lottery jackpot Friday, but he bought a round of drinks for everyone at the American Legion James O. Carey Post No. 77, where he scored his winning ticket.
 – Company picked to operate North Dakota state lottery.  Scientific Games International, which sells Powerball lottery tickets in Montana, Iowa and four other states, has been chosen to provide equipment for North Dakota's entry into the game next year.
Colorado lottery audit unveils woes.  State auditors released a report Monday on the Colorado Lottery, finding that its sales may be hitting a ceiling and that profits that should be going to parks and open space are being eaten up by increased prizes used to try to attract more players.
