Lottery foes are dialing to sway voters.  The campaign against a proposed N.C. lottery cranked up this week with voters across the state getting automated phone calls from former Gov. Jim Martin and former University of North Carolina system President William Friday.
Ban on College Gambling Debated.  Senators reopened work Thursday on a bill to ban betting on college sports, a proposal vigorously opposed by the casino industry as misguided and unfairly targeted at Nevada, the only state that allows such wagering.
Archer discloses details of casino move .  In a meeting earlier this week with the Michigan Gaming Control Board, Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer revealed previously undisclosed details of the plan that would relocate one of the city's three casinos to the riverfront.
Detroit Casinos Consider Options.  The council initially reacted to Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer's truncated plan with more nays than yeahs, and, now that the mayor isn't seeking re-election, momentum behind his new vision appears to be grinding to a halt.  The casinos are hedging their bets, depending on which scenario the council ultimately finds palatable.
Second Vote for Nevada Net Gambling Bill.  Online gambling in Nevada almost got the green light Wednesday, but the failure of a related bill to pass means that there will be a second vote on the issue.
