N.Y. Senate Approves Gambling Plan. The state Legislature overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday night to expand gambling in New York, including an authorization to join the multi-state Powerball game, with leaders saying new revenue sources are crucial because of the World Trade Center attacks.
