 – A former lottery administrator is accused of using his access to the agency's computers to steal tens of thousands of dollars from the Kansas Lottery through dozens of small cash payments.

 – In Virginia, gambling on Native American reservations is taking center stage.  Opponents of a bill to recognize eight Native American tribes in central and southeastern Virginia fear that sovereign tribal nations could someday introduce legalized casino gambling into the commonwealth.

 – Virginia will be changing its lotto on September 17 in order to increase the size of its jackpot.  Although it is keeping up with other lotteries that are undergoing similar restructuring, it's hard to believe the small prize for picking 5 out of 6 numbers -- about $1,500.  (Compare this with The Big Game, which awards $150,000 for the same prize level.)

 – A former Texas insurance commissioner who went to prison in the 1970s for a pension fund scam that rocked state government stepped forward Monday to claim the $60 million Texas Lottery jackpot.
The China Lottery is doing pretty well.  You may recall a story back on September 1 about China starting a national lottery (which technically is illegal there).  People have been lining up to buy tickets, and in the first week that tickets were offered, 15 million tickets were sold.

 – JACKPOT WINNER:  There was one $64 million winning ticket sold in the Tuesday drawing!  The winning ticket was sold in Burbank, Illinois.  More details to follow after the winner steps forward and claims the prize.

 – Today we've got two stories for you about two lucky $150,000 Big Game winners: Winston Htwe of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Demar Palencia of Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Both stories indicate where the winning ticket was purchased, and the Virginia story mentions how much the winner receives after taxes.  Don't bother to wait for the picture to load on the Virginia story unless you really want to see it -- the picture is over 750k bytes and takes forever to load.  Note to Virginia Lottery: use an image reducer.
