  • Honest Virginia man rectifies $1.8 million bank error.  Last week, Mike Kainrath opened his mail and found a notice from his bank: "We credit your account $1,789,830.61."
  • Minnesota Lottery plans to add new game.  Minnesota's new lottery director said the state will need to introduce a new lottery product if the lottery hopes to meet its revenue goals.
  • 12:20 pmColorado Lottery trims costs by nearly $1 million.  A year after a state audit criticized spending at the Colorado Lottery, the agency has cut nearly $1 million from its budget by revamping its marketing, eliminating jobs and other measures.
  • One Florida Lotto ticket wins $60 million.  One ticket matched all six Florida Lotto numbers to win a jackpot of $60 million, lottery officials said Thursday.
  • Nebraska Lottery Issues Scam Warning.  Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning today warned consumers about an e-mail scam that tells recipients they have won a prize from the “Nebraska Lottery/Bill Gate (sic) Foundation” and eventually asks for a processing fee.
  • Ad blitz fuels Massachusetts Lottery success.  Massachusetts lottery profits are on a record-setting pace this year, but officials are retooling the sagging Keno operation and launching new games to maintain the growth of state-sanctioned gambling revenues.

Edmonds, Acting Lottery Director said last week.
  • 12:40 pmPowerball Jackpot Jumps to $63 Million.  Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Wednesday's Powerball drawing the jackpot grew to an estimated $63 million, with a cash option of $34.3 million.
  • 12:00 pm$32 Million: Florida Lotto Keeps Rolling.  No ticket matched all six Florida Lotto numbers, increasing the jackpot for Saturday's drawing to an estimated $32 million, lottery officials said Thursday.
  • Idaho gambling sting nets 50 machines.  Idaho State Police investigators said they seized about 50 illegal gambling machines in a raid of 13 bars across the state, most of them in the Boise region.
