- Brother to seek Bulger's winning. A brother of James "Whitey" Bulger will fight the government for his share of a $1.9 million lottery jackpot it had seized now that federal prosecutors have revealed new information that the fugitive gangster may have a legitimate claim to the money.
- Bulger may have claim to jackpot. Six years after the government seized $1.9 million in lottery winnings from fugitive gangster James "Whitey" Bulger, prosecutors have alerted a judge that new evidence suggests Bulger may have had a legitimate claim to the jackpot.
- Nevada Casino Revenues Up in December. Nevada gaming revenues rose 5.8 percent in December over the same month a year ago, as casinos were helped by an extra weekend in 2000, according to figures released on Monday (2/12/2001).

- Lucky Kalamazoo, Michigan Man Takes Home $150,000 Prize. "I was completely surprised," said Thomas Elwell of Kalamazoo after learning he had matched the first five numbers in the January 30 drawing to win the $150,000 Big Game prize.
- $150,000 Winning Ticket Sold in Frederick, Maryland. Not much news on the winner, who wished to remain anonymous, but provides a couple of details on the ticket purchase.
